What’s an Earthkeeper^®?

Earthkeeper^® is a word created by us. "Earth" means the place we live in and "keeper" means guardian. When you put the two words together, it represents someone who is concerned about environmental issues and willing to take action to protect our Earth, like the minor act of cycling instead of driving and using energy efficient bulbs, to bigger things like replanting eroded areas and using renewable energy to reduce the burden on our environment.

To us, a life without the outdoors is unimaginable. We love the outdoors and that's why we started Earthkeepers^®. When Timberland realised that the production of our outdoor boots, shoes and accessories affects our environment, we relooked at the way we do business and did something about it.

Earthkeepers^® Products

Timberland Earthkeepers^® Collection is our first footwear and apparel collection that best reflects our commitment to reduce resource consumption. Since 2008, Timberland® products bearing the Earthkeepers^® label must meet design criteria regarding recycled, organic and renewable material content and use solvent-free adhesives to help reduce climate impact.

Earthkeepers^® boots are made of

Green Rubber™ This product features a Green Rubber™ outsole made from 42% recycled rubber	Leather Working Group (LWG) Gold-rated tannery One or more major component(s) use(s) at least 50% leather tanned in a facility rated Gold by a 3rd party environmental audit.	Leather Working Group (LWG) Silver-rated tannery One or more major component(s) use(s) at least 50% leather tanned in a facility rated Silver or higher by a third-party environmental audit.	Recycled PET One or more major component(s) (i.e. outsole, upper, lining, midsole or sockliner) contains at least 50% recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET), the plastic used to make soda bottles.
Renewable Content One or more major component(s) contain(s) at least 10% renewable content, like hemp or bamboo viscose, that are plant-based materials.	Organic Content One or more major component(s) contain(s) at least 50% certified organic material, like organic cotton. 100% Organic Content The fabric is made of 100% 100% certified organic cotton.

50% Renewable Content At least 50% of the fabric blend is made from renewable content, like hemp and bamboo viscose, which are plant based materials.
